Green home loans are a way to spread the cost of making your Scottish home more energy efficient. Rather than paying the full cost of an installation upfront, finance — where arranged and subject to status — allows you to pay over time. We arrange no-obligation surveys and quotes for paid installations only; we do not offer grants, funding schemes or complimentary products.
Below is a summary of the upgrades a green home loan can typically cover. The exact scope and any finance options are confirmed in your written quote.
Upgrades a green home loan can cover
Solar panels
Roof-mounted solar photovoltaic panels that generate electricity from daylight. Suitable for many Scottish homes with a suitable roof. 0% VAT applies until 31 March 2027.

Battery storage
Store surplus electricity from your solar panels for use when generation is lower — for example in the evening or on dull days. 0% VAT applies until 31 March 2027. You can also compare the top 20 home batteries to see what's available.
- Home battery unit
- Compatible inverter / controller
- Installation and commissioning
Air source heat pumps
An efficient electric heating system that extracts heat from the outside air. A lower-carbon alternative to gas or oil boilers. 0% VAT applies.

- System upgrades and commissioning

Is there 0% VAT on solar panels and batteries?

What is not covered by a green home loan?
We do not offer grants, funding schemes or complimentary products, and we do not quote for work outside renewable energy and storage installations. We also do not publish savings figures or payback periods.
