Frequently asked questions
Common questions about green home loans and how we arrange surveys and quotes for homeowners in Scotland.
What is a green home loan?
A green home loan is a way to spread the cost of energy-saving home upgrades — such as solar panels, battery storage or an air source heat pump — over time. Interest-free credit up to £30,000 is available, subject to status. We arrange no-obligation surveys and quotes for paid installations only.
Who installs the equipment?
Installation is carried out by our MCS-certified partner. Green Home Loan Scotland arranges the survey and the quote; the installation itself is delivered by our MCS-certified partner. We install through MCS-certified partners.
Is the survey really no obligation?
Yes. The survey and the quote are provided on a no-obligation basis. You only proceed if you choose to.
Do you offer grants or complimentary products?
No. We arrange quotes for paid installations only. We do not offer or refer to grants, funding schemes or complimentary products.
Can I get finance?
Interest-free credit up to £30,000 is available, subject to status. We do not publish specific amounts on this website — these are confirmed with your quote.
Is there 0% VAT on solar panels and batteries?
Yes. Until 31 March 2027, solar panels and battery storage benefit from 0% VAT. Air source heat pumps also benefit from 0% VAT. Your quote will reflect the correct VAT treatment.
Does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme apply in Scotland?
No. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme applies to England & Wales only and is not part of this service for Scottish homeowners.
What areas do you cover?
We cover all of Scotland, from the Borders to the Highlands and Islands. See our Areas covered page for the regions we serve.
How do I get a quote?
Complete our short enquiry form or call us on 0141 230 0198. We will arrange a no-obligation survey and provide a clear, written quote for a paid installation.
Do you publish prices, savings or payback figures?
No. We do not publish prices, savings figures, payback periods or statistics on this website. Your quote is specific to your home and circumstances.
Ready for your no-obligation quote?
